From fleece to thread...
Those thirty Shetland fleece made the journey in the back of my car to the Halifax Spinning Mill near Goole a couple of weeks back.
What an amazing set up Paul has there; and so generous with his time showing me round the various pieces of machinery and talking through the possibilities for our 'common thread'. Plus learning all about his passion and hearing about his hopes and dreams to take the Mill on to its next stage. It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
We've decided on a fine single that group members can ply as required or use as singles, can add slubs to, can over dye. Once the fleece has been sorted there's also a hope that some of the colour variation can be kept. All supplied on cones and still in grease - can't wait to see it.
There were bags of finished yarn to plunge hand and nose into - I love that feel and smell!
And how could I resist adding to the stash with some beautiful Masham yarn.
