This is really a piece of whimsy, putting two very textured things together to make something else. The romanesco cauliflower, whose texture is made up of endless fractals, atop a simple piece of ribbing with additional texture from integral hoops and rudimentary smocking, masquerading as a small child's drawing of a tree.
