Mourne Textiles

I first came across Mourne Textiles at London Design Fair in 2015. Mario Sierra, the owner, had shipped a loom across from Northern Ireland, along with rugs and throws and cushions and yarn and lots of gorgeousness. The loom was virtually identical to the one I was gifted some 30 years ago. And Mario was kind enough to spare more time than he should talking all things weaving with me. Since then I have been following Mourne Textiles fabulous work. So a chance to see the loom at work again at London Design Week was an opportunity not to be missed.

A very different surrounding for 2019. The shop window of Pinch Designs in Pimlico with whom Mourne Textiles are collaborating. The result is LUACHANNA, a collection of limited edition cushions and wall hangings that celebrate artistic making, symbolizing the shared values that both brands bring to creating elegant and dimensional products.

And this time Mario was accompanied by Karen Hay-Edie, his mother, who was at the loom weaving a stunning wall piece on a linen warp with the same wool weft that was used for the cushions. Just wonderful and generous people; and time I went to Rostrevor for a visit.
