I’m a detail sort of person. However beautiful the whole landscape, building or room, I’ll be the person taking pictures of broken bits of stone, the one tile that reflects the light differently, or paint flaking off a wooden door. So much beauty in small things – the colours, texture, the influence they have on the whole. This plasterwork in the White Room at Blackwell House in Cumbria is a case in point. The whole room is white, and that’s the impression on entering, just white. But look closer and there’s fabulous detail everywhere, all of it white on white, so easy to miss if you don’t look closely.Â
