#SeptTextileLove Day 26: Historical/Key Influences

I love scenes of industrial decay. I know they’re a blot on the landscape, but they do always have wonderful colours and textures. That’s particularly the case when they’re set in somewhere as beautiful as the Lake District. Copper mining has taken place around Coniston from Roman times until 1914. This is a picture of the ruins of that last mine, which I used as the inspiration for my final show project at Bradford College, along with one of the pieces inspired by it.
