I came across these whilst doing some research into fashion in 1919 for a current project. I was struck by the impact that the reversal of the colours makes, not just on the garments, but on my perception of them, and of the women wearing them. Had the two not been juxtaposed, a mirror image of each other, the singular form might have looked merely odd.
